ACADEMIC EXPERIENCE

Full time Professor at each institution, teaching a full annual load of courses. Course Levels ranged from Freshman (undergraduate) to Graduate (graduate) directed by self created syllabi. Enrolment to capacity with low drop rate and 90% repeat students in subsequent semesters. Wrote and edit course descriptions for digital design concentrations; took a lead role in curriculum development for programs in consultation with committees. Performed duties of Program Chair and Departmental Supervisor, assisting the Department Head, Dean of Academic Affairs and Associate Deans of Academic Affairs in the recruitment, appointment, evaluation, and retention of adjunct faculty in the commercial art and visual art program; Site selection and field supervision for the program. Made recommendations to administrators on matters of budget, equipment, scheduling, and supplies. Participation in (and at times establishment of) student portfolio assessment and requirements for assessment. Compiled and documented material for Middle States Forum accreditation; rewrote, revised and created curriculum and program description (both minor and major concentrations) for Middle States Forum accreditation. Coordinated the Academic Program Review process for the program, in consultation with the Office of Academic Affairs and the Department Head for the Middle States Forum accreditation (re-accreditation review done every 3 years).

Created program cohesion with revised curriculum description, portfolio assessment, and junior review. Provided leadership in the activities of the curriculum advisory committee for the program and coordinated long range planning efforts for the program; aided in curriculum development with creation and approval of two courses (graduate graphic production and undergraduate two dimensional design); revised web design curriculum and platform of instruction from editors to coding. Structured and implemented necessary formula for Senior Seminar courses and created cohesion between course structure and role of department and Colleagues with needed forms; curriculum guidelines; and an open critique and lecture forum consequentially advertising created lecture series and exhibition with implemented University wide lecture series for graduating Seniors as students wrote and presented written thesis supporting visual projects. In addition, created web page with sound recordings of each Senior thesis presentation for departmental and institution review, as well as co-coordinating with the Centre for Visual Arts regarding Graduating Exhibition and installation, and Alumni Council meetings.

Advised students in graduate school; internships and career placement. Registration advisor conducting cross platform student advising. Advisor for Student Drama Guild; including scheduling of performances; writing; auditions; fund-raising; advertising; costume design; staging; lighting. Organizer for annual Visual Art Student Competition; including establishing timeline; procedures; policies and creating advertising. Student work from digital illustration course selected for student Art Club t-shirts sold campus wide. Digitally composited mural with children's drawings for Abuse Shelter. Revised layout and design of University publication 'Factory Times' which then became awarded for quality design production and consequently increasing exposure of design department and students. Curator and installer of student show ('Road to Somewhere Else') and coordinated with outside printer to create large mounted format prints. Established design section in campus bookstore and ensured stock was replenished; also co-ordinated with local store for design supplies needed by students. Student samples used effectively in recruitment presentation's for colleagues. Mentored students for Senior Show - including gallery display of work; promotional material and critique of gallery work.

Oversaw lab maintenance and communicated with technical support. Additional university service included; designing programs, posters and brochures for Department; University and Deans events including award ceremonies; prestigious lecture series; reports; recruitment presentations; recruiting events; institution competitions; performances; exhibitions and notable guest speakers. Student samples used effectively in recruitment presentation's for colleagues and on campus open house events. Consulted and advised update and upgrade of University website with information needed to promote institution and assisted in the editing of department website including individual faculty (full-time and adjunct) web pages. Obtained and maintained display boards for presentation of student work consequently advertising department resulting in enrolment growth of 300% plus. Student work received several best in show awards and published in Factory Times and Simbaa (as well as in local and on campus outlets). Nominated students received Academic Excellence Awards; in addition, nominated colleague for Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching. Interviewed by Ohio and New York Business Journals for articles on technology in the art world and the role of education. Former academic positions include: Program Chair; Departmental Supervisor; Professor (undergraduate); Professor (graduate).
